Sandra Lee

I have been teaching piano for over 30 years. My studio, which I have in my home, is centrally located near Coquitlam Centre. My aim is to give my students a love of music whether they are beginners or advanced pianists.

I teach a well-rounded approach to the piano, combining classical, pop and jazz. Beginners, whether they are young children or adults, are given a solid foundation in music. I enjoy working with all my students, teaching them to excel to the best of their abilities.

When they are ready, I prepare students for recitals, festivals and Royal Conservatory of Music exams. To help them with these goals I have Student-only performance classes every other month in small groups. These classes give students an opportunity to perform their music for others and also gives them an opportunity to listen to other students. I have two Recitals every year, one at Christmas and one in June. Students are well prepared for these events and gain valuable confidence and enjoyment from these performances.

Education & Accreditation

I studied piano under Mary (Nan) Gorringe and theory under Keiko Parker. I am a member and past executive-member of the British Columbia Music Teachers Association (BCRMTA). I am currently the President for the BCRMTA and am actively coordinating our annual North Fraser Music Festival.

Lesson Details

Lessons take place at my home studio. Depending on the needs, abilities and ambitions of each student, I choose from a variety of techniques and method books. When the time comes, and the student chooses to, I help prepare them for Royal Conservatory exams. However, taking these exams is not a requirement of my studio.
